The book ‘A Text Book of Plant Breeding’ is designed for the plant breeding paper of graduate courses in Agriculture, Botany, Zoology, and Life Sciences. The book covers different aspects of plant breeding in 30 chapters distributed in seven parts, namely, General Considerations, Creation of Variation, Selection in Crop Improvement, Specialized Breeding Approaches, Evaluation and Multiplication, Miscellaneous Consideration, and Breeding of Specific Crops. At the end of the book, several appendices and a glossary of relevant technical terms has also been provided. The book has been written in simple language in a style I followed for teaching my students. The concepts have been explained with the help of suitable diagrams and every effort has been made to maintain readability and facilitate easy comprehension. It is expected to serve as the basic reading resource for the students of plant breeding and would be helpful in various competitive examinations.
