The Maze runner is the story of Thomas, who finds himself in a Glade, a place surrounded by an ever-changing maze, which has part-mechanic part mucus monsters called Grievers. He is at a complete loss of memory and is stuck therein with some 60 other boys called ‘Gladers.’ Runners are those who try and find a way out of the maze. He finds that sting of a Griever can recall old memories, but it is a terrifying process. In his journey of time, he makes friends with various inmates. As the story proceeds, we see that Thomas increasingly desires to join the Runners in their pursuit and one day he does find such a chance. Making his own capabilities realised, he earns himself the title of ‘keeper of the runners’. In his quest for the way out, Thomas finds a transparent hole which he refers to as the Griever Hole, which renders the glade unprotected from the Grievers. With the help of his friends, he finds the code to way out. The desperation from curiosity makes him decide to get attacked by Grievers, bringing him closer to the solution of the maze. Will this code be their ticket out of the maze, will Thomas be able to vend of all the Grievers, while he approaches the Hole, what has brought him to this Glade and what is his purpose of being there, in that place are the questions that make the theme of the book The Maze runner, published by Chicken House as first edition in 2011. The book is available in paperback.
